Kaoru

Kaoru is a member of the J-Rock band Dir en grey. Once upon a time, in 2006 or something like that, Dir en grey had never performed in the USA before, and were finally coming to the US to play at the Avalon in New York City. This was a huge deal to me and most other Diru fans at the time. So me and my BFFL Jonna decided we had to dress up and go to their concert. I decided on Kaoru, and I made her an “Ain’t Afraid to Die” Kyo costume but sadly I don’t have photographic evidence of it anymore.
Now of course Dir en grey has played in the US a ton of times so it’s not as big a deal anymore. But I was at the first concert they ever played in the US.
Construction. I had 2 days to make my costume and Kyo, so I threw this together really quick by modifying a corset pattern. The wig was my Rabi en Rose wig, which I cut short and glued extensions to.
