Flonne from Disgaea: Hour of Darkness

FlonneFlonne
Disgaea is a really complex roleplaying game for the Playstation 2 and (more recently) Nintendo DS. I’ve played the DS version and it’s kind of sad how addicted to it I am, and how consumed by it I am. I even named my Etsy store after an item from Disgaea. While Final Fantasy IV will always hold that place in my heart as my favorite game, Disgaea has definitely stolen the most amount of hours from my life.
Inspiration. I knew I had to make something from this game, it would just be wrong not to after the stupid amount of hours I’ve spent playing it. Flonne is my favorite character, and I had literally everything I needed to make this costume for AnimeBoston, so I went ahead and did it. I fully realise that I am way too curvaceous and probably too old to be cosplaying a character that looks like Flonne. I do not care.
Furthermore I roped my friend Lisa into being Pleinair with me.

Construction notes. I had a week to make this. The bodice was made using a corset pattern that I altered to extend further down in front. I drafted my own patterns for the jacket, sleeves, and bloomers; I’ve made many, many pairs of bloomers in my time so this was quite easy. I also drafted my own pattern for the bow. It’s attached to a headband which is worn under my wig, and it has craft wire in it to help it keep its shape. Unfortunately I didn’t have money to splurge on a new pair of shoes so I painted a pair that I already had white. The wings were made using craft foam and a wire coathanger. I have to say I just LOVE that wig!
