Renji, Rukia, and Matsumoto from Bleach

If you haven’t seen Bleach, it’s basically Dragonball Z with swords. And it’s boring as hell. Don’t get me wrong: I LOVED the first season of Bleach, but that’s about as far as my love for this show goes. I tortured myself by sitting through the Soul Society arc (which was the most predictable, boring garbage ever), and stopped watching after that. The art is great, and I will admit the manga is a lot better. I still don’t get why everyone loves it.

So why do I have four Bleach costumes? Because the main characters in Bleach all wear the same uniform. So I made one uniform, and recycled it for three different characters, and cosplayed them all when I still actually liked the show (around 2005, I think). I do like Matsumoto a lot, I wish she had a bigger role in the story. I made Renji for a group. I actually don’t remember why I did Rukia, truth to be told, I don’t really care for her as a character. The second Rukia costume I made because I thought it was a cute dress. :)
Construction. I used a hakama and hakamashita pattern I found online to make the uniforms. The Renji wig, since I get a lot of questions about it, is just a red wig that I pulled into a ponytail. I cut triangles into the skin top in front, and wore it over a bald cap. The “side burns” are fabric, stuck on my face with spirit gum. :P The Rukia OP1 dress I threw together from a pattern I drafted.
