Christmas Dr. Girlfriend
A Very Venture Christmas is an awesome Christmas special. I wear a costume or some other generally ridiculous looking garb every year for my family’s Christmas Eve party, I’ve been doing this since I made my Christmas Mana costume in 2005. So of course it was inevitable that I would make something from this episode. Yes, it is weird and very nerdy that I cosplay on Christmas and I should probably be ashamed of myself, but I LOVE the holiday season so to all nay-sayers, I say: whateva, whateva, I do what I want.
I pulled this out of my ass on Christmas Eve 2009 when I also had presents to finish making, so it was made in about 5 or so hours and I realise there are a lot of little inaccuracies about it. Namely, I accidentally made the collar too wide. But whatever, she’s in the episode for like five seconds. I LOVE the way it fits though, I wish I could find this same fabric in pink and make a new Dr. Girlfriend dress out of it because it has the PERFECT amount of stretchiness for a Dr. Girlfriend costume. Alas.
Construction. I scrambled this together out of a scrap of red vintage fabric I had that I was originally going to use for a Star Trek TOS uniform for Dragon*Con. Since I had such a short amount of time to make it, I used a commercial pattern instead of drafting my own (I forget the number, sorry). The white fuzzy stuff I bought at a craft store the day before I made this; it’s not really wide enough but it was all I could find at the time so I had to make it work. The hat my mom bought for me, and the boots I already had, I just attached the white fuzzy stuff to them. NEVER AGAIN with that fuzzy stuff though, ugh that stuff was a bitch to work with.
