Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess

This costume was a joint project made by me and my friend Lisa. Lisa is the one wearing it, not me. We had been planning to cosplay Belldandy and Urd together forever, but Lisa wanted a new Belldandy costume to wear since her blue one was made forever ago. Instead of re-making the old one, we decided to make the magenta costume Bell wears at the end of the OAV. I made the magenta over dress, and the white under dress. Lisa made the jewelry and accessories.

I have always wanted to make a Belldandy costume, so i’m really happy I got the chance to work on this.
Construction. Excuse my language, but this costume was a pain in the fucking ass to make. We used the Belldandy costume pattern from Faerie Fingers to make the magenta coat. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that site exists anymore, but the pattern was really tricky to read and required a lot of alteration on my part. I had to drape it a lot to get it to sit right, and chose to use a rolled hem on the bottom instead of whatever the pattern calls for because it just looked way way better with the rolled hem. I drafted a pattern for the white dress. Lisa painted the triangles onto the dress freehand, and made all the jewelry, so if you have questions about those feel free to visit her site and email her. Unfortunately, the white under dress ripped after Katsucon 09, so in the pictures from Otakon 2009, Lisa is wearing a white dress she bought under the jacket.
