Ayane from Dead or Alive 4

Dead or Alive is a fighting game with a bunch of buxom chicks and a really bad attempt at giving a storyline to a fighting game. Oh, and horrible music. Clearly, it’s selling point is the hot babes. My friend Lisa was making an Ayane costume, and wanted to cosplay DOA with me. I actually like Helena the best, but the only costume of hers I like is that ridiculously skimpy genie outfit she has, and I didn’t really want to be THAT naked, so instead we decided to both cosplay Ayane.
Construction. This costume was pretty easy, but there’s lots of little details in it that made it time consuming. All the fabric on the bow and skirt was hand painted by me. I drafted my own patterns for everything. The bow detaches from the back of the skirt with snaps. The leg things are held up with garter belts, even though she doesn’t wear them in the game, I chose to wear them just to make my life a little easier. The wig was a standard “china doll” type wig, which I layered and styled to look more like her hair. The stupid arm things were definitely the hardest, with all those little fiddly pieces like the buckles and braiding, they were really uncomfortable to wear as well.
